What's Next in RV Innovation? Introducing the Transit Tourneo Custom

The Ford Custom, is a mid-sized, front-wheel drive van produced by Ford Europe since 2012. It is positioned as a smaller option within the Transit range, slightly larger than the Transit Connect, and smaller than the full-sized Ford Transit. The Transit Custom was initially unveiled at the 2012 Commercial Vehicle Show in Birmingham, England.

The vehicle has undergone several updates and facelifts over the years. In 2017, it received mild styling changes and a new engine family. By 2019, Ford introduced a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) version of the Tourneo, which utilized a 1-liter EcoBoost gas engine along with an electric traction motor. This PHEV version could travel up to 50 km (31 miles) on electricity alone and up to 500 km (310 miles) using the gas engine.

In terms of production, the all-new Tourneo Custom range is produced by Ford Otosan in Kocaeli, Turkey, with deliveries to European customers scheduled from mid-2023. This new generation of the Tourneo Custom was revealed in November 2022 and features electric, plug-in hybrid, and diesel versions, alongside an Active crossover variant.

The E-Transit Custom, a battery-electric panel van variant, was announced in March 2021 as part of the second-generation Transit Custom lineup. With an estimated range of 263 miles (423 km) using the WLTP driving cycle, its production is expected to begin in the second half of 2023 at Ford Otosan.
